2012 sees the village of Shapwick, near Blandford Forum in Dorset celebrate the Olympic achievements of Shapwick-born Charles Bennett at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris, where he was awarded the gold medal in the 1,500 metres.

The event is being held on Sunday 22nd July 2012 and is open to all classes, ages and abilities, including a Village Race, the Paralympic mile and an Open Race - you will find details of all the races and times here.

The one mile road course takes a route through the heart of the village, from the old school, past The Anchor Inn, continuing along Steward's Lane, up Piccadilly Lane, with the final straight down the High Street back to the finish line outside The Anchor Inn.

The event is being organised by Voice of Shapwick, in association with Bournemouth Athletic Club and Wimborne Athletic Club.
